Foundation I & II & Advanced Classes

PLEASE NOTE:

Starting with Foundation Levels - if you take jazz, you ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE A BALLET CLASS. The only exception is the Adult Jazz Class.

If you take modern, you ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE A BALLET CLASS or JAZZ CLASS.


Foundations I - Beginning Intermediate (9-10)

(Note: Must be 9 years old by 8/31/2026)

The beginning intermediate level begins the journey of not only continuing a dancer's technique, advanced terminology, and more intricate steps, but also adding dance history and a greater understanding of the human body and how each muscle works to help the student accomplish their dance goals.

NOTE: Students 10-12 years old with no dance experience should start at this level to give them time to "catch up" on the terminology and techniques needed to move into their age group. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us.

CLASS OPTIONS: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Musical Theater, and Acro.

"Team" Choreography is available. Must speak with the office about the rules required of Team Students.


Foundations II - Intermediate (11-13)

(Note: Must be 11 years old by 8/31/2026)

Must be pre-approved for age and ballet requirements - For dancers who wish to enhance their dance training and stylization further, will place the strongest emphasis on technique. Pointe work is added to the ballet class. Other classes offered at this level are tap, jazz, modern/contemporary, hip hop, leaps and turns, and acro. Dancers are encouraged to take as many classes as possible to enhance their dance knowledge and strength.

CLASS OPTIONS: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Musical Theater, and Acro.

"Team" Choreography is available. Must speak with the office about the rules required of Team Students.


Advanced Level - Advanced (14+)

(Note: Must be 154years old by 8/31/2026)

The advanced level incorporates pointe work not only in the classroom but for performances as well. A student must have the strength of ankles, legs and core for this level of work. The tap work in this level focuses on the musicality and intricate rhythm patterns of advanced tap and "rhythm tap". The jazz classes work on the highest difficulty level in leaps, turns, balance movements, and control. Advanced Modern incorporates lyrical and contemporary styles, as well as the true form of modern dance, to prepare students for their college modern dance classes.

CLASS OPTIONS: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern/Contemporary, Hip Hop, Musical Theater, Acro.

Lyrical/Modern

Lyrical (6-7 yrs) Along with a warmup for flexibility and strengthening, students will learn the importance of telling "a story" through lyrical dance.

Modern (8+) Modern dance encourages freedom of movement through floor, across the floor and center combinations of movement.
